 Britain.tv Wikipedia - Pop rock
Surf rock is sometimes included as a type of pop rock; this is an anachronism, as surf music and rock music were considered distinct musical genres in the 1960s.
Although there were few acts in the 1970s and 1980s that could strictly be called pop rock, the genre continued in the form of power ballads from hard rock and heavy metal acts, along with the more up-tempo songs from soft rock acts.
A feature of some modern pop rock songs is the alternation of soft verses and loud choruses, influenced by the arrangements of alternative rock artists.

Rock and roll emerged as a defined musical style in America in the 1950s, though elements of rock and roll can be heard in rhythm and blues records as far back as the 1920s.

 Alternative rock Biography,info
As a specific genre of music, alternative rock consists of various subgenres that emerged from the indie music scene starting in the 1980s and became popular or well known by the 1990s, such as indie rock, grunge, gothic rock, and college rock.
At times alternative rock has been used as a catch-all phrase for rock music from underground artists in the 1980s, all music descended from punk rock (including punk itself, New Wave, and post-punk), and, ironically, for rock music in general in the 1990s and 2000s.
The Mary Chain, along with the dream pop of Cocteau Twins and the space rock of Spacemen 3, were the influences for the shoegazing movement of the late-80s.

The Turkish rock scene began in the mid- to late 1960s, when popular United States and United Kingdom bands became well-known.
Soon, Turkish performers like Moğollar created a distinctively Turkish fusion of rock and Turkish folk; this was called Anatolian rock, a term which now generically describes most any kind of rock music written in Turkish.
Hence, Anatolian rock refers to a fusion of a wide selection western rock subgenres with either a traditional Turkish sound or simply rock music with Turkish lyrics.

For millions of years, the mighty volcanoes of the Central Anatolian Plateau erupted and spewed their contents across the land that would become the cradle of civilization.
'Fairy chimneys,' cones and strange rock formations have been sculpted by wind and rain while subterranean towns were excavated by a populace seeking shelter from the conquerors and would-be conquerors who crisscrossed the wide open steppes of the Central Anatolian Plateau.
Ancient Anatolian tribes, Assyrians, Hittites, Phrygians, Turkic tribes from Central Asia, Mongols, Persians, Syrians, Arabs, Kurds, Armenians, Slavs, Greeks, Romans and Western Europeans have all passed through leaving behind some of their traditions as well as their genes and rendering Cappadocians as exotic as their surreal surroundings.

The late 60's to mid 70's were a particularly fertile time for Turkish rock and pop music, thanks to all the records of British and American bands arriving at the Marmara sea and leaving an imprint on the post-war generation that was just as unrestful and hungry here as elsewhere.
The Anadolu scene disintegrated somewhat during the 80's, also due to the political circumstances, the rise of the military dictatorship, the cultural backlash and subsequent banning of some of the musicians involved.
There's been some kind of renaissance in recent years, and the term Anadolu rock is still being used, though today it seems to designate practically every kind of Turkish music that's vaguely rock-related, from metal outfits to Alternative bands.

Each of the artists involved in the recording of this LP continued to record radical and experimental music and are considered the cream-of-the-crop among Eastern psych afficionados.
In recent years the legacy of Anatolian progressive rock has gone from strength to strength, gaining popularity amongst DJs, producers and record collectors as an unrivalled source for unique sounds rarely found in other genres of international music and, until now, rarely heard outside their native environment.

Rock and roll (also spelled rock 'n' roll, especially in its first decade), is a genre of music that emerged as a defined musical style in the American South in the 1950s, and quickly spread to the rest of the country, and the world.
From the late 1950s to the late 1990s rock was perhaps the most popular form of music in the western world.
As a result, "rock and roll" now has two distinct meanings: either traditional rock and roll in the 1950s style, or later rock and even pop music which may be very far from traditional rock and roll.
