Nationalist Movement Party - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
By 1965, Alparslan Türkeş gained the control of the conservative-rural CKMP (Cumhuriyetçi Köylü Millet Partisi ("Republican Villagers Nation Party")) and in 1969, at a congress held in Adana he confirmed his authoritarian rule and changed the name of the party to MHP.
Many prominent members joined neo-liberal Anavatan Partisi or various Islamist currents.
They were later forced into a coalition with the Demokratik Sol Parti (Democratic Left Party) DSP and the Anavatan Partisi (ANAP) by the army and also forced to drop all of their 'religious' manifesto.

True Path Party - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The True Path Party (Turkish: Dogru Yol Partisi or DYP) is a right-wing, secularist conservative Turkish political party, established by Suleyman Demirel in 1983.
In 1983, Demirel created the True Path Party (Dogru Yol Partisi, DYP), the antecedent of the AP - still conservative, but now with a secular agenda.
Even so - the military and conservative governments banned the new party, and the DYP was declared illegal and its members persecuted.

 Turkey - GOVERNMENT
A civilian government with Turgut Özal as prime minister was formed after Özal's Motherland Party (Anavatan Partisi--ANAP) won a majority of the seats in the new assembly.
The Democratic Left Party, known by the Turkish acronym DSP (for Demokratik Sol Partisi), was the smallest parliamentary party in January 1995.
Because the party received almost 11 percent of the vote in the 1991 elections, DSP leader Bülent Ecevit and six other party officials took seats in the National Assembly.

 Turkey - Motherland Party
In early 1995, the Motherland Party (Anavatan Partisi--ANAP) was the main parliamentary opposition party, after having served as the governing party from 1983 to 1991.
Turgut Özal founded the Motherland Party in May 1983, and his personality and energy were instrumental to the party's subsequent success.
Yilmaz now faced the challenge of developing a new party identity that would appeal to a broader constituency; otherwise the Motherland Party would expend all its energies competing with the ideologically similar True Path Party.

netWMD - Green Money, Islamist Politics in Turkey
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Justice and Reconciliation Party (Adalet ve Kalkinma Partisi, AKP) swept to victory in Turkey's parliamentary elections on November 3, 2002.
AKP's victory marked the first time that any party had won an absolute majority in Turkey's parliament since 1983 when Turgut Özal's Motherland Party (Anavatan Partisi) took 211 seats of the then 400-seat parliament, and only the second time that Islamists took the reins of government.
It had won just slightly over one-third of the vote but because only one other party—the center-left Republican People's Party (Cumhuriyetci Halk Partisi) managed to surpass the 10 percent threshold necessary to enter the Turkish Grand National Assembly—the AKP took 66 percent of the seats.
