Evidence suggests that Kroisos' image did not feature a separately attached bronze helmet, although this attribute might be expected in a dead warrior's monument.
The anatomy of the Anavysos statue is typical neither for a real man nor for a kouros.
Whether or not the dead man looked at all like the kouros who stands in for him is less important than the evident attempt to specify in his "portrait" the life's work which culminated in a noble death, in other words, the central fact of the man's existence.

A lovely look over the bay of Anavysos, near Cape Sounion, Attica, Greece.
A lovely house, dating back to 1959, when Anavysos started drawing inhabitants.
This house, at number 19 on the street, is one of the few remaining original houses from those years.

 Whats New
A reception for invited guests was followed by the opening of the exhibition to the general public.
Previously (18th May), HCMR Athens had held a very successful Open Day in Anavysos, with competition prize-winners as well as games and activities for younger school age pupils.
On 4th June, HCMR Crete was the venue for a short presentation of HCMR Past, Present and Future, for an invited local audience, followed by a guided tour and a reception for local dignitaries and HCMR staff.

Here are three sculptures, dating between 550-500 B.C. that are good examples of this last 50 years of the Archaic Age:

He still has that Ka statue stance with the arms held tightly to his body and the left foot forward.

Posted below are pictures of Apollo of Veii (top) and Anavysos Kouros (bottom).
The Anavysos Kouros (Kouros=young man in Greek) is made of painted Parian marble and comes from Anavysos near Athens, in Greece.
It was made around the 6th century BC.

We know the identity of the Kouros (standing male figure) of Anavysos due to the inscription at its base which reads, "Stand and mourn for Kroisos, first in line of battle and whom Ares [god of war] killed." Clearly the function of the statue is one of memorial.
This one came from a cemetery outside of Athens.
