Theodotus was a citizen of Ancyra, the capital of Galatia.
The heathens of Ancyra had an annual custom of washing the images of those goddesses in a neighboring pond; and the day for performing that ceremony happening at that time, the governor obliged them to attend the solemnity.
As the idols were each to, be carried thither in a pompous manner, and in a separate chariot, the governor gave orders for the seven virgins to be placed in derision in other open chariots, in a standing posture, naked, and to be carried with the idols to the pond for the same purpose.

The Catholic Encyclopedia - Marcellus of Ancyra   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
One of the bishops present at the Councils of Ancyra and of Nicaea, a strong opponent of Arianism, but in his zeal to combat Arius adopting the opposite extreme of modified Sabellianism and being several times condemned, dying deprived of his see c.
The bishops at Jerusalem having condemned his works, Marcellus was first deposed at Constantinople in 336 at a council under the presidency of Eusebius of Nicomedia, the Arian, and Basil of Ancyra appointed to his see.
Marcellus' return was resisted by the populace of Ancyra, but he succeeded in occupying his see for a few years, only to be finally deposed by the Marcedonian faction at Constantinople and succeeded by Basil, c.

THE COUNCIL OF ANCYRA, HISTORICAL NOTE & CANONS
Only about a dozen bishops were present, and the lists of subscriptions which are found appended to the canons are not to be depended on, being evidently in their present form of later authorship; as has been shewn by the Ballerini.
There is no reason for making a mistake because only the word auton occurs in the passage in which the penalty is fixed; for auton here means the guilty party, and applies equally to the woman and the man: besides, in the preceding canon the masculine osoi epaggellomenoi includes young men and young women also.
It is greatly to be desired that bishops and pastors to-day would take example from the fathers of Ancyra and devote their attention strenuously to eliminate superstition from the people, and would expound with animation to the people the enormity of this crime.

 Synod of Ancyra
An important ecclesiastical synod was held at Ancyra, the seat of the Roman administration for the province of Galatia, in 314.
The season was soon after Easter; the year may be safely deduced from the fact that the first nine canons are intended to repair havoc wrought in the church by persecution, which ceased after the overthrow of Maximinus in 313.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Councils of Ancyra
The first, an orthodox plenary synod, was held in 314, and its twenty-five disciplinary canons constitute one of the most important documents in the early history of the administration of the Sacrament of Penance.
Nine of them deal with conditions for the reconciliation of the lapsi; the others, with marriage, alienations of church property, etc. The synod of 358 was a Semi-Arian conciliabulum, presided over by Basil of Ancyra.
It condemned the grosser Arian blasphemies, but set forth an equally heretical doctrine in the proposition that the Son was in all things similar to the Father, but not identical in substance.

Basil of Ancyra - TheologyWeb Campus
What you failed to mention is that Basil of Ancyra was a semi-Arian, but eventually rejected the term "creature," viewing it as an unsuitable descriptive term for the preexistent Son.
The point is that Basil of Ancyra himself eventually rejected the term "creature" or "creation" as an adequate descriptive term referring to the preexistent Son.
readers interested in Basil of Ancyra are advised to not trust anything G1 says, and to refer to the works i've cited in both this thread, and the Colossians 1:15 thread.

Saint Patrick's Church: Saints of May 18
When returning one day to Ancyra in the company of fellow Christians, he stopped for a meal by the roadside and sent one of his companions to a nearby village to invite a Christian priest, who lived there, to join them.
That same night the priest was journeying to Ancyra with a load of wine, and at midnight came upon this group of soldiers, who told him the tavern was closed and invited him to share their camp.
He untethered his ass and joined them, but when he learned from them the story of the dead victim in their care, he made them drunk with his wine and while they slept, recovered the body of his friend and returned with it to his own village.

Its first bishop we know about was Crescens, who, however, like several others, including Iranaeus, moved to the West, Crescens establishing the Church in Viennne.
Later the place would suffer from theological difficulties, especially Montanism, Sabellianism, etc. as we know by some of its questionable bishops, Marcellus and Basil of Ancyra.
The council's agenda which took place here in 314 is of less importance than the fact that it took place at all.
