Anders Fogh Rasmussen [⁽ˈ⁾ɑnɐs fo ˈʀɑsmusn̩], also: [⁽ˈ⁾ɑnɐs ˈfoːˀ, ⁽ˈ⁾ɑnɐs ˈfɔʊ̯ˀ] (born January 26, 1953) is the current Prime Minister of Denmark (in Danish Statsminister, meaning State Minister).
Rasmussen was born in 1953 in Ginnerup, Jutland and has been active in politics most of his life.
Rasmussen disagreed with the findings of the commission, but faced with the threat of a no-confidence motion, he decided to leave his posts voluntarily.

The loss of power in the 2001 election to Anders Fogh Rasmussen's Venstre party was the first time since 1920 that his party had lost its position as the largest party in the Folketing (parliament).
Rasmussen currently sits as an MEP after winning a record number of 407,966 votes for an individual (from Denmark) in the European Parliamentary elections in 2004.
