  A Place Called Blair
Blair Valley was divided between 2 states in 1764-67 when Mason and Dixon laid out a line of milestones which bore the letters M for Maryland and P for Pennsylvania.
Andrew Blair was one of the earliest settlers (1749) in the Maryland part of this valley, in what was then Frederick County (now Washington County).
Blair was descended from one of the pioneer families of this region for whom Blair's Fork was named.

According to Thomas Blair's youngest son, who lived until the late 1920's, a large group of Blairs arrived in Philadelphia, and made their way down through VA on their way to what is now know as Blair in Fairfield County (Camden District before 1800), SC.
Whether any of these Blairs are related to each other is not known, but due to their proximity in such a remote area, there is a good possibility that several of them are brothers or at least cousins.
Another James Blair (b 1790-1800) appears in the 1830 Newberry census, and his name is beside that of Jane Blair (b 1750-1760), possibly the widow of his father or uncle.

Blair's government built a three-quarters of a mile long bridge across the Saint John River, linking Fredericton with villages and factories on the other side of the river.
After leading his party to a major electoral victory in 1895, Blair left provincial politics in 1896 when he was appointed minister of railways and canals in the federal Cabinet of Liberal Prime Minister Wilfrid Laurier.
Blair resigned from the government in July 1903 in opposition to Laurier's plan to build the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway.

Dr. Blair focuses his teaching and research on macroeconomic analysis and forecasting, the relationship of international trade to the process of direct investment by multinational corporations, and the international economics of economic development.
