The next documentary evidence we have of Sarah and Andrew in North Carolina, subsequent to their marriage, is a deed, or "indenture", dated 7 May 1782 recording their purchase of 150 acres of Rowan County land from Samuel Cochran, Andrew’s brother-in-law (page D-17).
Andrew and Samuel are still on the rolls, but Andrew is shown as farming only 169 of his original 228 acres, and Samuel, his son and now married, is farming the remainder (the tax list shows Samuel with 69 acres, but the acreage total varies an acre or two every year).
In 1805, Andrew and Samuel are still on the same land as the prior year, but the acreages are listed as 166 for Andrew and 62 for Samuel.
