John of Lancaster, Duke of Bedford also known as John Plantagenet (June 20, 1389 – September 14, 1435) was the fourth son of King Henry IV of England by Mary de Bohun, and acted as regent for his nephew, King Henry VI of England.
Henry VII (January 28, 1457 – April 21, 1509), King of England, Lord of Ireland (August 22, 1485 – April 21, 1509), was the founder of the Tudor dynasty.
Henry's elder daughter Margaret was married first to James IV of Scotland, and their son became James V of Scotland, whose daughter became Mary, Queen of Scots.

He was known as Lord Howland until his grandfather's death in 2002, when he adopted the courtesy title of Marquess of Tavistock, previously held by his father, Robin Russell, 14th Duke of Bedford.
He succeeded to the Dukedom of Bedford the following year after his father suffered a fatal stroke, and is currently styled His Grace The Duke of Bedford.
