However, it is worth noting that in the middle of this answer his comments support what has been a consistent position from a number of Government Ministers, that the UK will welcome skilled migrant workers and does not believe that advocating a protectionist policy is in the wider interests of the UK economy.

What the Tories need now is a system letting candidates run their campaign on the issues they know matter to the local electorate, not what matters to someone looking into a crystal ball.

South West Beds MP Andrew Selous has called for more measures to combat anti-social behaviour.
Mr Selous said he had become "increasingly exasperated" in recent months at the "incredibly slow pace" at which housing associations proceeded over severe anti-social behaviour.
Mr Selous added: "It is very unfair on such people, and in placing anti-social tenants in a given area, local housing authorities should have regard to the effect on those who own their own properties."

That was clear from an exchange a couple of weeks ago in the House of Commons when Conservative MP Andrew Selous popped a question to the PM.
Will he agree to meet a group of members of the UK Youth Parliament, asked Selous.
South Bedfordshire members of the Youth Parliament had expressed concerns in meetings with Selous, and he was wanting to see them addressed.
