Andrew W.K. - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Andrew W.K. was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where, at age 4, he began classical piano training through the University Of Michigan Music School.
Andrew continued to be elusive when it came to live appearances, due to his seemingly endless recording schedule, but he did find time to release a live-concert movie entitled, "Who Knows?" and present five screenings of the movie in both New York City and Hollywood, February and April, 2006.
Many contradictory versions of Andrew W.K.'s history and rise to celebrity have coexisted, with some of the contradictions seemingly coming from Andrew himself, however the source of the confusion is difficult to pin down.

On stage, WK's band create a racket pitched somewhere between the glam rock of the Sweet, the Ramones' wilfully moronic punk and the ludicrous 1980s metal of Motley Crue.
One music-biz conspiracy theory currently circulating suggests that Andrew WK is an elaborate hoax devised by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl (WK has toured with Grohl's band the Foo Fighters).
All WK's songs are essentially the same, and 45 minutes without any concession to rhythmic or melodic variation is pushing it a bit.

During interviews, the 22-year-old WK has explained that, to him, the word "party" means going after everything you want without making excuses.

September 13, 2002 - 930 Club - Washington, DC Andrew WK might have been a smash hit with their drunken party anthem "Party Hard," but their recent absence from the top 40 charts might have some sliding them into the register of the one hit wonders, between A-Ha and Aqua.
