He had specific ideas for some songs, while he felt others were ready to be recorded as is. Don is also a very funny guy, and his sense of humor was a big help.

Three of the original band members (former vocalist Ontronik "Andy" Khatchaturian, bassist David Hakopyan and guitarist and current vocalist Art Karamian) are Armenian by heritage, which can be distinctly heard from their Mediterranean time signature.
Later in 2002, vocalist Ontronik "Andy" Khachaturian (who previously played drums for System of a Down before founding The Apex Theory) left the band due to differences in musical opinions.
Khachaturian is currently involved in a solo project and a band dubbed VoKEE.

Andy, David and Art had just about given up when Andy heard Sammy playing in another band and invited him to sit in with The Apex Theory.
Asked about his personal creative method, Andy says his experience as a drummer has a lot to do with his writing and the way he sings; often, the sound and rhythm of a lyric have as much impact as its meaning.

Described as a "heavy Mediterranean groove" by lead vocalist Andy Khachaturian, The Apex Theory combines a heavy drum support, melodic guitars and honey sweet vocals to provide an entertaining and emotional message.
Dressed in a flowing blue robe-like outfit, the platinum blond Khachaturian took time to talk to the audience between his hopping and dancing about the front of St. Andrews and even provided a killer keyboarding performance.
Supported by the talent and charisma of his bandmates, The Apex Theory gave one hell of a live show getting everyone in the building to their feet and building a platform of positive energy for the remainder of the evening.

Khachaturian sings "Can you please explain/the reason why you are so/afraid of consequence/when we first said hello" — all about the normal trials and tribulations of having a relationship with anyone, whether lover or family member.
The album's first single, "Shh...(Hope Diggy)," is a great song, all instruments pounding in a percussive beat; but Khachaturian yells the lyrics and returns to singing in the chorus.
His yelling and ranting detracts from the harmony that makes the album what it is. Light use of electric sound is a bit of an embellishment as well, but it does not detract from the quality of the album: it's just a bit too much icing on the cake.

The album is the follow-up to an EP that was released earlier this year and is an impressive introductory piece of work.
It even includes a chorus in the track "That's All!," during which Khachaturian sings the melody for "Living the Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin with almost exactly the same vocal inflection as Martin.
The lyrics are all stream of consciousness put to verse and Khachaturian requests that they be interpreted subjectively.

The scene has definitely moved on in the time since they released their full-length debut ("Topsy-Turvy"), they lost their label (Dreamworks Records) and their singer (Andy Khachaturian), but one would like to believe that their breed of talent and songwriting ability deserves some merit.
While this is an enjoyable outing it never demands one's full attention, and if the you aren't listening intently you're apt to miss the band's deviation from the script entirely.
Though this EP is the first to feature guitarist Artin Karamian as the primary vocalist one would be hard pressed to notice the difference, as he does his very best Andy Khachaturian impression.

Andy Khachaturian (vocals), Art Karamian (guitar) and David Hakopyan (bass) have brought the influences of the Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Near Eastern music they heard at home to The Apex Theory.
The band credits each song to the group as a whole, as they are equal collaborators — no one is the star.
Although lead singer Khachaturian may be difficult to understand at times, his words seem to be left open to interpretation, which is the case with most of the screaming rock bands they play alongside.
