Andy was a baby bear in this cartoon, and remained a juvenile for the next three years.
Dick Lundy, who had directed most of Andy's films (including that one), moved to MGM, where he mostly worked on the equally easygoing Barney Bear, and Andy was retired as a character.
His main claim to fame is that it was a 1940 Andy Panda cartoon, Knock Knock, that introduced Woody Woodpecker.

Andy's first film, the charming cartoon LIFE BEGINS FOR ANDY PANDA, was the one of only two films that featured Andy's mother, a sophisticated sounding lady panda.
Andy's girl friend, Miranda, did not appear in the comics again until issue #104 (1945) where she appeared right on the cover.
