Priaulx won the title with a total of 101 points, with Dirk Muller of BMW Team Deutschland in second with 86 points and Fabrizio Giovanardi driving an Alfa Romeo in third place with 81 points.
Priaulx’s explanation of what this win means to him was: "This one is special as every year you win a championship it means a lot more than the one before.
Priaulx said that his success in Macau was down to his preparation for the event - where he knew that he needed to perform at his best if he was going to have any chance of success.

Priaulx has competed in many types of motorsport, beginning in karting at the minimum age of eight.
Priaulx also occasionally guested in Australian V8 Supercar racing, competing at the Bathurst 1000km in 2002 and 2003, and also the Sandown 500km in 2003.
Priaulx repeated his 2004 success in 2005, clinching the World Touring Car Championship (essentially the same series, with two races outside Europe) at the final round in Macau with two second place finishes.

This was certainly the case as Andy Priaulx took his fifth win of the season and Gabriele Tarquini saw his challenge literally go up in smoke when his car stopped on the side of the track with flames coming from the engine compartment.
Andy had proved that coming from the back was not impossible, but due to a collision with the privateer Alfa driver, Luca Rangoni, Dirk could not do this and had to pit twice for damage repairs.
Andy started his career in karting in the Channel Islands as he was born on the small island of Guernsey.

It is hoped that Andy will appear at the NEC crowned with a consecutive WTCC title, which would add a third title to his unique back-to-back wins in the previous seasons of the world’s premier touring car championship, confirming his status as the only current UK motor racing World Champion.
Andy will be interviewed on the Autosport Central Stage, fuelled by BP Ultimate, appearing on the Karting Stage and conducting autograph sessions from the Driver Signing Area.

Andy Priaulx will attend his first F3 race at Zandvoort in Holland next weekend with high hopes of performing well in front of an international audience.
Priaulx, who is currently racing in the British F3 championship, had the opportunity to test on Bridgestone tyres at the Norfolk circuit and put in excellent lap times, only a few tenths of a second off the lap times expected from Avon tyres, usually run in the British championship.
Andy Priaulx has never raced at Zandvoort before and has been busy studying the circuit and learning what he can from the team and racing colleagues.
