Anfield (sometimes known as Anfield Road) is a football stadium in the district of Anfield, in Liverpool, England.
In 1906, Liverpool and Preston North End formally renamed the banked stand at one end of their ground Spion Kop, after a hill in Natal that was the site of a battle in the Second Boer War, where the British forces suffered heavy losses (many of the fallen were Scousers in the Lancashire Regiment).
Due to the difficulties of expanding Anfield beyond its current boundaries (an entire terraced street had to be demolished to make way for the Centenary Stand expansion), Liverpool are expected to leave the ground in the next few years.

I'm not too sure to be honest, there was talk that Anfield may be turned into a hotel or a community centre but I think this happens in a second development once the "new" Anfield is finished.
Liverpool FC is facing tough decisions in the next couple of months over the viability of the proposed "new Anfield", with rumours the cost of the venture has risen to £200m.
The Kop and the proximity to the pitch are the hallmarks of one the toughest places for opposing teams to play in all of Europe, and I think that given how Liverpool have fared in 2005, they don't really need the income bad enough NEED a new ground, though their board may want one.
