Angel (television series) plot summary - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Doyle explains to Angel that he experiences visions from the Powers That Be (also referred to as "The PTBs") of people who are in danger or in trouble and that 'The Powers' have sent him as a messenger on their behalf so that Angel can investigate these visions.
Angel eventually tracks them down and is about to kill Cordelia when she gives birth to an adult woman named Jasmine, and then slips into a coma.
Angel hurriedly explains that the entire deal is a ploy — Cordelia's kiss had given him a vision alerting him to the Circle's existence, and he had decided to use Fred's seemingly meaningless death as a means to gain the Black Thorn's trust.

Buffyverse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Buffyverse is a term coined by fans of Joss Whedon's first two television shows to refer to the shared fictional universe in which they are set.
The success of Angel independent of its parent show, and speculation about future spin-offs that are unlikely to feature the characters of Buffy or Angel has led to an increased desire for an alternative term which might try to avoid tying the concept to the name of one character or one show.
Indeed Angel's first series features a number of half-demons, including Doyle: his mother is human, and his father is a Brachen demon.

Angel is a 240-year-old vampire who cut quite a swath of destruction through Europe in his first 140 years or so of unlife, before he killed the wrong girl and was cursed by the Gypsies.
The character of Angel's LA sidekick Doyle (played by Glenn Quinn) was new, but he was more-or-less a direct replacement for Whistler, the good demon who appeared briefly in the BtVS Season 2 episode Becoming (apparently he was originally supposed to be Whistler, but the actor wasn't available).
As with the first season of any television series, episodes were little inconsistent in quality and tone at first as they tried to figure out what the new series should be.

First of all, don't think "Fight the Future" - the movie was nowhere near as smart or well-written as the series, and was only a sort of Hollywood-esque approach to the concept of the show.

Daria is, of course, skeptical, but that's not the least of her problems: Jane is pressuring her to go to a party that's being held in Brittany's honor to celebrate her "C-" average (a party at which Mystik Spiral is performing).
At home, Quinn is mortified at what she believes is the loss of her guardian angel; Daria is sarcastic at first, but relents and tells Quinn that she should believe in whatever makes her feel best, and doesn't disabuse Quinn of her theory that perhaps her guardian angel is reserving himself for more important matters.
But seriously, this was just padding on the episode and wasted time that could have been used for something better.
