Angel Dust (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Angel Dust, released in 1992 (see 1992 in music), was the fourth studio album by U.S. rock band Faith No More, and the second to feature vocalist Mike Patton, as well as the final with guitarist "Big" Jim Martin.
Only the later versions of the album feature a cover of the Commodores' 'Easy' as the final track, which in some parts of the world was Faith No More's most successful single.
The original issue of Angel Dust on vinyl came with a bonus 12" of the "Midlife Crisis" EP which was released as a single weeks prior to the albums release.

Angel Dust is perhaps the best album ever made, and you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice if you didn't pick it up right now.
The only problom that occured when this happened is that when Primus did it, supprisingly, thier album was a hit, sold tons of copy's, and remained a fan favorite, at the same time, wheras when faith no more released Angel Dust, it cost them thier fame.

Angel Dust was created when grunge was at its most lucrative.
The most amazing part of this album is that it does not sound "industrial" or badly synth-laden.
Angel Dust is a must-buy rock album, recommended not for rockers looking for self-pitying angst, but for bold adventurers who are fearless enough to try rock music that's an unpredictable and frantic juggernaut.

Needless to say, this album blew me away even more than the live concerts had, and I am left desperately wishing I could see this line-up one more time, this time actually knowing the songs that would be performed on stage.
Angel Dust play power metal that dwells somewhere between the aggressive American power thrash of bands like Nevermore and the more melodic European power metal a la Blind Guardian or Helloween.
Vocally, Thurisch is superb, and his departure from Angel Dust is the biggest stab wound for me. He can be harsh and sinister, growling out lyrics about denial with a voice that just falls short of death metal vox.

 PROGRESSIVEWORLD.NET: THE MUSIC BOX
Angel Dust, like Vanden Plas and other prog metal bands that have come up in the wake of Dream Theater (or, at least, seem to have), have a sound that, at times, harks back to the metal bands of the late 80's without all the fluffery.
Anyway, what I feel Angel Dust (and their brethren) have in common with the "hair bands" is the occasional hummable melody, a refrain that gets stuck and won't let go.
What immediately strikes me about this album is that how dense this album often is - the feeling that everything is up in the mix - all balanced, but all up front.

In response, the former recorded and released the bizarro masterpiece Angel Dust.
From there, Angel Dust mixes the meta-metal of earlier days with the expected puree of other influences, including a cinematic sense of atmosphere.
The album ends with a cover of John Barry's "Midnight Cowboy," which suits the mood perfectly, but the stretched-out, tense moments on "Caffeine" and the soaring charge of "Everything's Ruined" make for other good examples.

Once Three 6 Mafia gained a measure of respect and popularity, Indo G broke from the ranks and released a solo album, Angel Dust.
It's a familiar mix of low-riding gangsta rap, party-ready grooves, hardcore rhymes, funky beats and bass -- with the bass being emphasized, since Indo G and Three 6 Mafia are from the South.
The difference is, Angel Dust stands out because producers Juicy J and DJ Paul are sonic masters and Indo G is a sharp-minded rapper.

Angel Dust’s fourth album, Bleed, surprisingly took to the metal world little more than a splash.
The album features the band’s trademark excellent guitar-keyboard interplay, but the vibrancy that graced its predecessor is refined to only a selection of tracks.
Few of the tracks on album number five capture the energy and inspiration of “Bleed,” “Black Rain,” or even the expeditious “Addicted to Serenity.” All isn’t lost for Angel Dust, however.

Sadly, this would be the last album for eccentric guitarist, Jim Martin, with the band, but he is in fine form along with Mike Bordin, Patton, and the others.
The album ends with a version (instrumental) of "Midnight Cowboy", and considering that you hear all kinds of stuff on this album like organs, choirs, cheerleaders, etc, it seems appropriate.
Although not on the same level of brilliance as 'Angel Dust', FNM's follow-up album 'King For a Day - Fool For a Lifetime' is still a GREAT album, and sees the band experiment with a differnent style again.

 The Metal Crypt - Reviews
One of the things that set Angel Dust apart from majority of the power metal bands out there is the heavy guitar influence in their music.
Angel Dust style of power metal is just dominated with head-banging guitar action that shows the band's thrash roots.
On a negative note however, in their pursuit of aggression and heavy guitar work, the band compromises the keyboards, which are hardly ever heard in the album.

and wasn't their easiest album to get into, until maybe after a few listens, you then begin to realize how brilliant this album actually is. This album was also the first of many where Mike Patton really lets his voice, and the characters in his lyrics, go all over the place.
The lyrics to most of the songs on this album were written by Mike Patton while he was having a "sleep deprivation experiment." Through the verses Mike is basically reading the fortune's that you find from inside of Fortune Cookies.
I think it was released after Angel Dust, and on later pressings of the CD they threw it on as a bonus track.

Rolling Stone : Angel Dust : Review
That question is the perfect tag line for Angel Dust, a roiling, musically adventurous record that represents yet another leap forward for a combo that broke through by cramming together rap's vocal cadences, metal's brute force and progressive rock's pompous keyboards on "Epic," the hit single from its 1989 album The Real Thing.
The album closes with an accordion-propelled version of John Barry's "Midnight Cowboy," its pensive melody providing a soothing contrast to the nerve-frazzling apocalyptic rock that precedes it.
Angel Dust is Faith No More's most challenging effort to date.

Compare Prices and Read Reviews on Anarchists Of Good Taste [PA] - Dog Fashion Disco at Epinions.com
The album starts with the band's single, "Leper Friend," which isn't heard very widely on the radio, though I have heard it once in promotion for DFD's coming to town for a live performance.
The album has a lot of star tracks, like "Leper Friend," "Antiquity's Small Rewards," the best track of all "Headless," and the absolutely odd "Vertigo Motel," which begins with pianos, then succumbs to metal, then to computer-altered vocals and whimsy keyboards, then back to metal again.
Frankly, this album should be recommended to any fan of heavy music, and specifically to folks who enjoy bands like System of a Down, Faith No More, and possibly Marilyn Manson (though Dog Fashion Disco are definitely in it for more than just show, which I can't say for M.M.).

Just to prove that she was “into the scene”, she picked an album and purchased it with her very own money.

Hailing from Dortmund, Germany, heavy metal quintet Angel Dust originally began life in the '80s as a thrash outfit.
They recorded two albums, 1988's Into the Dark Past and 1989's To Dust You Will Decay, before disbanding due to personality conflicts.
Sporting a similar but slightly retooled sound that drew from British power metal, the reconstituted Angel Dust toured and signed to Century Media, which released the Europe-only Border of Reality (also in 1998).
