KNAC.COM - Reviews - Judas Priest Angel of Retribution
The documentary portion of Angel of Retribution is roughly 40 minutes long, and there is dialogue from the band interspersed with the various live performances—the best of which is a performance of “Diamonds and Rust” which is almost worth the purchase of Angel of Retribution alone.
Angel of Retribution would have been a cool album as a mediocre follow-up to Defenders of the Faith, or as a half-hearted apology for Turbo.
Angel of retribution sounds alot like early priest and this album gets a 9 out of 10 for me to hell with this morons review.

Judas Priest: Angel of Retribution - PopMatters Music Review
The acoustic "Angel" is a nice touch, as Priest revisits the mellower sounds of their groundbreaking 1976 album Sad Wings of Destiny, but the biggest surprise on the record is the fantastic "Worth Fighting For", a midtempo rocker that hearkens back to the radio-friendly Point of Entry album from 1981.
As good as Angel of Retribution's first 35 or 40 minutes is, it comes close to completely crash-landing, first on the maudlin "Eulogy", and then on the 13 minute epic "Lochness".
Angel of Retribution isn't quite the earth-shattering record many had hoped for, but it's still a very welcome return to form by one of the world's most beloved metal bands.

Blogcritics.org: Judas Priest - Angel of Retribution
Angel of Retribution, in stores March 1, 2005, is the 16th studio album by Judas Priest in 28 years and features the return of original vocalist Rob Halford, last heard on 1990's Painkiller.
"Angel Of Retribution" according to the band members' own words is the second (and final) part of 1976's "Sad Wings Of Destiny" which, yeah as obvious as it can get, was sort of a "concept" kind of thing after all.
AoR should be seens as one of the top metal/rock albums of their year simply because Priest with Halford are so much better than just about anyone else.

Encyclopaedia Metallum - Reviews for Judas Priest - Angel Of Retribution   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Angel of Retribution is a solid album featuring something for every Judas Priest fan, from the classic sound of Sad Wings of Destiny, to the metal assault of Painkiller, and even a taste of British Steel.
AoR is a record that is aimed for the long time Priest fan, which is all things considered the way it should be and probably the only way to go because Priest's reputation has suffered over the years with the mainstream.
Angel of Retribution is cheesy at times, poorly thought-out at others, even laughable ("Conjures up an ageless spell/guarded by the sentinel" in a ballad ferthaluvvagawd) but it rises above (on sad wings or something) this to be their best record since 1984.

JUDAS PRIEST - Angel Of Retribution - METAL DREAMS REVIEW   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Despite those two ‘ok-for-another-band-but-not-for-Priest’ albums, it is 1990’s Painkiller, the last Halford-sung album, that Angel of Retribution will be most closley compared to by fans and critics alike.
“Angel” is a mellow, acoustic ballad, but is actually quite good and provides far more intensity than “Wheels of Fire.” “Hellrider” gets things going again with yet another metallic motorcycle song, but in my opinion is just a lackluster rip-off of “Nightcrawler.” Weak spot #2.
The only bad thing about it is that it follows too soon after “Angel.” Album closer “Lochness” leaves nothing to the imagination as to its subject matter, and at over 13 minutes it provides a lot of metal and a lot of solos.

Cd Review - Angel Of Retribution
Angel Of Retribution is Judas Priest's first new album, with Rob Halford on vocals, since the release of  Painkiller in 1991.
I'm a MAJOR Judas Priest fan, as a matter of fact, they've always been my favorite band, and with all the hype and anticipation of the new album, I was kind of worried if the band could pull it off.
While it is not a horrible song, I think the band could have come up with something better to close the album off with.

Orlando Weekly - Music Review - Angel of Retribution
Thus, expectations were muted for Angel of Retribution, the first album with Halford since Painkiller, the 1990 attempt at speed-metal modernism.
It's equally clear that Angel luxuriates in an in-the-pocket comfort that comes from musicians who are completely at ease with the strictures of their own style.
Fifteen years is a long time to hold a grudge, and, with Angel of Retribution, it looks like Priest is asking our forgiveness for their sins.

A.O.R. isn’t their best but it is the right record- heavy metal propelled by Scott Travis’s drumming and Ian Hill’s groove-oriented bass work, showcasing the guitar swashbuckling of Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing.
Angel Of Retribution is not great- with the expectations put upon it, it never could have been- but it is a strapping effort, the equal of Painkiller.

Angel slows the pace down considerably but it is as effective as the underrated and obscure Prisoner Of Your Eyes.
Angel Of Retribution shows that after more than a decade apart the band still have that unique gel that produced some of metal's most brilliant work and the album's superb artwork recalls the classic 1977 Sad Wings Of Destiny album.

Most of the optimism surrounding Angel of Retribution stems from the fact that it is the first album with Halford since 1990’s Painkiller, considered by many fans (although not this one) as one of the band’s finest hours.
Angel of Retribution may not match Painkiller, but it destroys Ram it Down and Turbo, making it, save one, the best Judas Priest album in twenty years.
Angel of Retribution may not be a classic, but it is a surprisingly solid album that should be well received by most long time fans.

ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION is the first Priest album in 15 years to reunite the band's original lineup (including Halford) as they attempt to recapture some of their previous glory, which--through ferocious rockers like "Judas Rising," "Deal with the Devil," and "Wheels of Fire"--they amply do.
