Angelo Cardinal Sodano (born 23 November 1927) is the Cardinal Secretary of State and Dean of the College of Cardinals in the Roman Catholic Church.
With Ratzinger's election as Pope Benedict XVI Sodano performed the functions of the Dean at Benedict's Papal Inauguration and on April 30 Benedict formally ratified Sodano's election to the position by the six suburbicarian Cardinal Bishops.
Although Cardinal Sodano is past the customary retirement age he was reappointed to the position by Benedict XVI on April 21, 2005.
