Randy Poffo had been a successful pro baseball player working tirelessly to make it to the major leagues of the sport he loved, until tragedy ripped that away from him with a devastating injury to his right shoulder.
A story of Poffo throwing 1,500 balls against the wall with his uninjured left arm in Sarasota seems to sum up the period, which depicts Poffo as a great man madly undertaking the most gruelling rehab schedule imaginable just so that he could continue his doomed baseball career with his left arm.
Regrettably, the same cannot be said for Angelo Poffo’s other son, ‘Leaping’ Lanny, who proved the theory that promoters’ generally should not book their own children, after he was inexplicably given the first ICW world title ahead of talent such as Ronny Garvin, The Sheik, and Ole Anderson.
