		The quartz lode that put Angels Camp on the map was discovered quite by accident when a miner named Rasberry was having some trouble with his muzzle-loading rifle.
		Angels Camp was named after early-day trading post owner George Angel, a member of the 7th Regiment of New York Volunteers who came west in 1848.
		In 1990 the population of Angels Camp was 2,409.

		When the California Gold Rush started, they tried their hand at prospecting, but decided they didn't like the labor involved, so they set up a trading post, which became a camp, and eventually a town.
		The placers around their camp were very productive, but gave out after a few years, and the population began to dwindle until Gold-bearing quartz veins were discovered in the town, which brought people back.

		The bathrooms were not necessarily dirty, but there was one toilet that went unflushed almost the entire time we were there and the other toilet stall had no TP the first 2 days.
		The overall park was good facilities, personal etc. however we were disappointed that the river view sites are now park model trailer's that they rent and the renters park 2 or 3 cars in road making it inpossible to leave with out tracking them down.
