Angie Stone - Stone Love | Album Review @ Music-Critic.com : the source for music reviews, interviews, articles, and ...
Angie Stone deserves her big huge hit, but this album won’t be it, because it is understated and classy.
Stone could sing the phone book and cause some of our natures to rise, but she’s not really the purring sex kitten here the way she was back at the start of her career, with all-woman old-school rap team Sequence, and the way she could still be if she wanted to be.
Stone, in her non-diva straight-up main personality, is a round-the-block girl, someone who’s lived and loved and lost and learned.

It's been five years since Angie Stone's debut and her third album, Stone Love, is still taking the neo-soul approach with dabbles in hip-hop, funk, and classic soul from throughout the years.
Stone Love is another great album for both soul lovers and people who like their pop with a bit of soul in it.
Her third and most consistent album, "Stone Love," is overall more favorable than 2001's solid (if long-winded) "Mahogany Soul." There's nothing here that tops "Brother" or the knockout "Bottles and Cans," but at 55 minutes, it's lean and to the point with no throwaway songs.
