  Angiopathy
Angiopathy is a disease of the blood vessels (arteries, veins, and capillaries) that occurs when someone has diabetes for a long time.
In macroangiopathy, fat and blood clots build up in the large blood vessels, stick to the vessel walls, and block the flow of blood.
Then the cells, for example, the ones in the center of the eye, do not get enough blood and may be damaged.

— Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), although usually asymptomatic, is an important cause of primary lobar intracerebral hemorrhage in the elderly.
Based upon a series of 784 autopsy cases, we estimated the prevalence of moderate to severe CAA as 2.3 percent for patients between the ages of 65 and 74, 8.0 percent between the ages of 75 and 84, and 12.1 percent over the age of 85 [1].
The primary constituent of each is amyloid beta-peptide, a 39 to 43 amino acid fragment of the amyloid precursor protein.

Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) is increasingly recognized as a major cause of strokes in the elderly.
The term CAA refers to protein deposits in blood vessels of the brain that can allow blood to leak out cause hemorrhagic (bleeding) strokes.
It should not be used for treatment purposes, but rather for discussion with the patient's own physician.
