By the way, IAS was also low and i am quite sure the slower speeds were real as confimed by GPS and prevailing wind.
It was a lesson perhaps that in heavy icing conditions, keep the AOA lower than normal.
Not that I havent heard this before but its just a reminder that with our much greater climb rate and AOA with the DLX that this can happen quickly and you can't see it.

My understanding is that in general, given the lie is not so bad, a shallower angle of attack will be more tolerable to thin & fat shots.
Posted: 12/15/04 9:28:22 AM tommyj,you are correct that a shallow attack is more forgiving.The clubhead sweeps rather than dig and the flat spot through impact is longer.
In my opinion- shallow angle of angle is a major power leakage, one that allows the clubface to open and layback thru impact - that produces a cut or fade shot on its own.
