The New Zealand Anglican Church seems to be practising a voluntary benign form of religious apartheid with the three tikangas acting like church Bantustans - doing their own thing, in their own way, under the control of their own bishops and a General Synod that is remote from those in the pews.
Other churches in New Zealand have not adopted the Anglican model of government and, judging from how it has worked for the Anglican Church, it would make a poor model of sovereignty for the nation's government and certainly not the envy of other nations.
