Anguirel sang as it was drawn from its sheath, and the Elf whirled about, dropping the sack of tools roughly to the ground.
Shame and humiliation overbore all injury as Anguirel was wrested from him, thrown carelessly to the ground to be taken as loot or abandoned uncaringly.
Anguirel, it seemed, had yet remained loyal to its master, refusing to be abandoned by the Orcs and yet now the cause of more suffering than it would have been otherwise.

Anguirel's mate was Anglachel, which Eöl gave to Thingol in payment for leave to dwell in Nan Elmoth, and that sword went on to perform many mighty deeds - reforged as Gurthang, it was the sword that Túrin used to kill Glaurung.
The only specific detail we have is that Eöl kept it for himself, but it was stolen by his son Maeglin.

 Swords and Sky Stones
This paper will explore the supernatural properties of Anglachel (and its mate, Anguirel) in comparison to similar legends of meteoritic iron, and suggest several real-world events which may have triggered Tolkien’s addition of the meteoritic origin of the swordswords to his legendarium circa 1930.
It is assumed that Anguirel accompanied Maeglin in his deadly tumble from the walls of Gondolin.
In conclusion, the meteoritic origin of the sword Anglachel (and its mate Anguirel) is not inconsistent with Tolkien’s earlier writings, as he was obviously aware of meteors and meteoritic phenomena.

The sword Anglachel became the famous Black Sword of Turin Turambar named Gurthang, but it had a mate that remained within Eol's family.
It was named Anguirel and was stolen by Eol's son Maeglin.
Like Anglachel, it was made also of the meteoritic iron, and has in its etymology "ang" or iron, and likely the element "ur-" meaning "heat." This last element perhaps referring to the blazing star from which it was made, to which the name Anglachel also seems to refer.
