Angus Wilton McLean (20 April 1870 -- 21 June 1935) was a lawyer and banker who was the Democratic governor of the U.S. state of North Carolina from 1925 to 1929.
Angus also served as Assistant Secretary of the United States Department of the Treasury from 1920-1921.

Angus Wilton McLean was born in an area of Robeson County which is now Hoke County.
Other than in the area of finances, Governor McLean was instrumental in getting a Department of Conservation and Development established to oversee natural and industrial resources.
McLean's administration was recognized for giving North Carolina a "prudent business administration" approach and for re-establishing the credit of the State.

Angus Wilton McLean of Lumberton, N.C., was a lawyer, banker, and active Democrat.
"Letters from Prominent Men" consists of letters received by McLean between 1912 and 1933, selected from his correspondence and mounted in alphabetical order by name of writer in two volumes.
A few of these letters discuss policies of the War Finance Corporation or Democratic Party politics; most of the letters express good wishes upon McLean's entering or leaving office, thanks for letters from McLean, or thanks for signed photographs of him.

Angus Wilton McLean stated that Neill McNeill of Jura disembarked at Wilmington with 1500 settlers in 1746 among whom were McNeilis, McMillans, Clarks, Kellys, Ballentines, Buies, and others.
In November of 1767, a ship from Argyllshire landed at Brunswick with 50 people from Jura including McDougalds, McLeans, Buies, Campbells, Clarks, Sinclairs, and Darrochs.
Some of the Blue families relate that their ancestors arrived from Scotland with Buies, but by mistake landed in Virginia and had to travel to North Carolina.

his name is Albert S. McLean, a former post-office employee, now retired, living on Aurora Drive, west of the tunnel.
Stephens: Well, he is outstanding in one way, and he married in this area here, into the Carpenter family...one of the old families, and his wife is very ill, I think, has serious leg amputations, and he's confined to looking after her at home.
