AnimEigo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
AnimEigo is an American licensor and distributor, within the United States and Canada, of Japanese anime such as Urusei Yatsura, Oh My Goddess!
Live-Action Japanese films are an area Animeigo is building upon with non-Samurai films such as A New Love in Tokyo.
Their release of Urusei Yatsura is nearing completion, and will be one of the longest release of an anime series in the US market ever, over 50 DVD's in all.

DVD Talk Forum - Will AnimEigo re-release Lone Wolf & Cub flicks in lower-priced box set?
What I meant was that AnimEigo's previous releases have been almost exclusively anime, and I was wondering if they ever re-released any of their anime series in box sets.
Animeigo is selling (or giving away with the purchase of one of their LWandC, or Zatoichi discs) boxes for their respective series.
Animeigo is actually planning on re-releasing Bubblegum Crisis on DVD, doing it themselves, and actually doing it right this time (more like the R2 release from what they have mentioned).

 DVD: Lady Snowblood (AnimEigo)
AnimEigo continues to display exactly why a DVD video presentation can be superior when compared to VHS release with this release.
Like other AnimEigo releases, the best aspect of the video quality here is the vibrant array of colors, something which wouldn't have been possible on the VHS format.
AnimEigo has complemented the Japanese audio track here with, removable, English subtitles that, like their other DVD releases, are color coded to signify when more than one character is talking during a scene.

Those of you who are of the "newer breed" of AnimEigo chatters, obviously, are more than welcome to read on; however, you may find this page to be even more lifeless and uninteresting than those who were in fact there during this time period.
It has indeed been a great deal of time since I last inhabited AnimEigo chat on a daily/nightly basis, and I feel that much the same can be said for many of the people whom I used to chat with on said daily/nightly basis.
Most certainly a "regular" at the AnimEigo chat room of old, I remember having numerous group conversations involving the friendly Chrissy, not to mention no less than an e-mail or two, as well as numerous forwards.

Anime News Network - AnimEigo   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
There are no concrete plans to have any Animeigo titles broadcast on TV, but "if and when" such an opportunity arises, You're Under Arrest will be the title most likely to be considered.
Since Animeigo is a relatively small and very specialized company; there are currently no plans to expand into offering manga or merchandise.
Animeigo has recently signed a distribution deal with Koch Entertainment, which should significantly increase market penetration and placement of titles in large retail outlets.

AnimEigo calls it's self "The niche within the niche".
At that time, AnimEigo was getting ready to expand its production department and (they) really needed someone to step in and make all the arrangements with outside sources.
AnimEigo likes to compare it’s self as kind of a cornerstone in classic anime and Macross fits in that genre.

 DVD: Zatoichi At Large (AnimEigo)
I have credited AnimEigo in the past, and have spoken highly of their portfolio of releases, but after viewing Zatoichi At Large, I might have to refrain from giving them such strong praise.
As with all of AnimEigo's releases, Zatoichi At Large is presented in its original aspect ratio of 2.35:1, or widescreen, and is Anamorphic for widescreen TVs.
Bottom line, AnimEigo's release here does an acceptable job in the audio and extra department, but the video presentation here is just so poor that it's hard to suggest the title to anyone unless found at a bargain price, or if one wants the entire series on DVD.

The Japanese animation company Animeigo (who released a series of popular Chambara films on VHS and LaserDisc) made their intentions known a long time ago that they planned on releasing their Samurai backlog on DVD, including the popular Lone Wolf and Cub, Zatoichi, and Sleepy Eyes of Death series.
However, due to Animeigo’s high standards and a lack of quality source prints, it took the company literally years to remaster their highly sought after titles.
Animeigo has gone through the trouble and expense of remastering the source print and incorporating 16x9 enhancement.

While Animeigo left all the end credits in place in its KOR box set, it put the three different versions of the opening credits in a special file that fans could access if they wanted.
Animeigo's problems are at least in part the result of the plethora of different types of DVD players with different capabilities.
While Animeigo did a great job of presenting the content of the original KOR series in its American box set version, they did tamper with the format, and found to their chagrin that fans are resistant to change there as well.

AnimEigo has always done a very good job with their prepherial material; they include production notes with their releases, including the cast(s), usually the lyrics of any songs (which, in series like Kimagure Orange Road or Bubblegum Crisis, can be quite a few), and any cultural or translation notes.
AnimEigo was good about releasing LDs, when fans were interested, and when DVDs hit the scene, they embraced the format, committing to re-releasing all their back catalog on DVD over time.
AnimEigo has released a good mix of the old classics and the new ones.

Animeigo has always put great effort into the proper localization of their titles, with great care not to apologize for the most distinctly Japanese elements, no matter how arcane or obscure.
Although I had quite a few problems with Animeigo’s presentation and packaging of this show, and although there were a few episodes I wish I had just skipped over, this is still a very worthwhile series, which, despite its age, has much to tell us.
