Animal Forest was released for the Nintendo 64 in 2001, and a new edition of the game, called Animal Forest +, was released for the GameCube in the same year.
Animal Crossing was released in the year 2002 in North America and 2003 in Australia.
Animal Crossing is a port of the Nintendo 64 version that was released in Japan, and as such, the game file itself is very small.
