		The short was co-directed by Cal Dalton and Ben Hardaway whose nickname was "Bugs".
		The short is notable as featuring Bugs' first singing role and also the first time where he dresses in drag to seduce his antagonist.
		Following this short he was given the name "Bugs" by the Termite Terrace animators in honor of his creator, Ben "Bugs" Hardaway.

		Luckey, who grew up in Billings, wrote and directed the animated short, "Boundin,'" which was nominated for an Academy Award last winter.
		His short film focuses on a lamb who mourns the loss of his lustrous coat until he learns from a wise old jackalope that it's what's inside that helps him survive life's troubles.
		To Luckey, the far more significant honor was becoming a member of the Academy, entitled to vote on nominations for the animation portion of the competition.

	Animated Films
		The animation studio TerryToons was established in 1929 by newspaper cartoonist Paul Terry (1887-1971) and Frank Moser (1886-1974).
		Animators at Warner Bros. Studios began to challenge the style, form and creative content of Disney's pastoral animations in the early 1930s and after.
		In the self-reflective animation, a tormented Daffy Duck struggles against the malicious, off-screen animator himself (revealed at the end as Bugs Bunny, although Jones admitted he was the culprit), as his character is redrawn, and the props, soundtrack, and backgrounds are changed as Daffy's chances as an emerging cartoon 'star' are sabotaged.

		Five great movies are nominated for the best animated short Oscar this year.
		Five extraordinary shorts were nominated for the Academy Award for best animated short this year: Birthday Boy (Sejong Park), Gopher Broke (Jeff Fowler), Guard Dog (Bill Plympton), Lorenzo (Mike Gabriel), and Ryan (Chris Landreth).

	Fact Sheet - SIGGRAPH 2002
		This animation, developed over a one-year period by a Cornell University undergraduate student, is intended to be dramatic and realistic as well as scientifically accurate.
		The animation was created using a combination of off-the-shelf and custom software, including Lightwave 5.5, Digital Fusion, and a custom distributed rendering system on a network of home-built PCs.
		In addition to helping to create and animate the story, Lane Nakamura also created the alien language, which he based on, of all things, the names of different cuts of meat.

	CGTalk - Animated Short: "Animus"
		Animation was done very quickly (about 2 weeks).
		The lighting on the characters is a standard 3 spotlight setup (animated to accommodate each camera shot).
		The background is on a different (slightly more complicated) set of lighting, with a few ambient lights set up to affect both background and characters for some continuity of lighting between the two.

	Amazon.com: Dark Fury - The Chronicles of Riddick (Animated) (2004): DVD (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
		The animation is mixed bag with a lot of the 3D spaceship work leaving a bit to be desire (to shiny for one thing).
		This 30 minute short is a mix of cel animation and computer animation and I must say the CG side of things is very much lacking.
		Into the Light is a short, but VERY informative featurette on why director David Twohy went the direction he did on Chronicles of Riddick.

		The SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival is an internationally recognized and highly anticipated showcase documenting the significant advances in technology, interactive techniques, and the seemingly unlimited creative potential of computer graphics.
		The cathedral is not only a building, and the pilgrim is not only a man. The short was animated and rendered in 3D Studio Max, painted in Photoshop, composited with AfterEffects, and edited with Softimage DS.
		The Deserter is a wonderfully stylized and animated story that while set in Europe during the First World War remains equally relevant and poignant today.

		The animation is executed in a extreme professional way and the story is so exceptional that a real movie could stand it.
		Short tip: In the cinema was long time ago a funny horror-movie called "killer clowns from outer space" (one of my favourites): The evil clown remembered me for the "chef" of the killer-clowns (search for it at your local video-store).
		This animation has been around for a while and is still one of the best I've seen.

		Balance is an animated short made in West Germany in 1989.
		I saw it at an animation festival years ago and am now pleased to see that Milk and Cookies has posted a link to a Flash version of it.
		I saw this years ago on a videotape collection of international animated shorts, and thought it was brilliant.

	02/26/2004: "A look at Oscar's Animated Short Films"
		The film was directed by veteran animator Bud Luckey, "one of Pixar’s original gang of five (along with John Lasseter, Docter, Andrew Stanton and Jeff Pidgeon)".
		Besids directing the short, Luckey also pitched the original story, created the conceptual drawings of the characters, wrote the music and lyrics, voices the jackalope, and performs the song.
		He says then animation president Tom Schumacher chose the French studio because of its unique sensitivity to the material and that Monfery (The Emperor's New Groove and Hercules) seemed the most appropriate animator to helm the five-minute short even though he had never directed before.

	07/13/2004: "Academy Award-nominated director awarded Guggenheim Fellowship"
		Academy Award-nominated director Mark Osborne is to partner with distinguished animated short producer Karen Dufilho-Rosen to make a new short film, with a 2004/2005 Guggenheim Fellowship helping to partially fund its making.
		It was the first fully animated, stop-motion film to be presented for exhibition in IMAX 70/15p format.
		She produced the outtakes for A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, and Monsters, Inc, and was responsible for Pixar’s short film slate including the 2003 Academy Award nominated short film Mike’s New Car.

		Watching the animated shorts online mostly makes me pine for a DVD or theater showing; streaming video is a horrible way to watch, well, anything really, but it’s particularly bad for watching animation, where you just know that you’re missing out on all kinds of details.
		It traces the downward progression of Ryan Larkin from rock-star animator to junkie to panhandler, and uses that story as a mirror to reflect the director’s (and the audience’s) own fears.
		The novelty of being an “animated documentary”; and the pathos of its subjects are enough to make “Ryan” a notable work, but it ups the ante even more with its formal ambitiousness.

	Computer Graphics World - Larger than Life
		Although any studio can enter the competition, and this year there were 640 entries, Siggraph has given its Best Animated Short award in 2002 to "The Cathedral," created by an individual artist from a small studio.
		That film, a 6-minute animation based on the book, "The Cathedral" by Polish science fiction writer Jacek Dukaj, tells the story of a pilgrim who arrives, after a long journey, at a cathedral on the border of the known world.
		He started with sketches and animatics, all of which are available on the Platige Web site (www.platige.com) as are step-by-step breakdowns of the process he used to create the film.

	Scion Deletes Offensive Scene from Animated Short
		Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. has asked its ad agency to delete a scene from an animated short promoting its new Scion sports coupe because of perceived drug use by one of the characters.
		The decision to delete the scene came after Advertising Age Magazine questioned Toyota about it, saying it appeared to be a reference to the use of peyote, a source of mescaline, Scion spokesperson Ming-Jou Chen said.
		Four animated episodic shorts entitled "303 Caliber" had been created featuring animated characters Tina, Ratchet, Glock and Random on a cross-country road trip in their Scion.

		Tomek Baginski's visual adaptation of Jacek Dukaj's story has been voted unanimously as "Best animated short" by the SIGGRAPH 2002 committee.
		His non-commercial animated film has been created with 3ds max, painted in Photoshop, composited with After Effects, and edited with Softimage DS.
		:-) Tomek made the short over a period of 14 months with the support of Platige Image.
