Otsuka Yasuo San (the animation director of 'Horus', 'Conan', and 'Castle of Cagliostro'), who invited me, used to be my Nakama at Toei Doga, and he was creating a very unique TV series called 'Mumin' at that time.
For example, a key animator in the project said to the director, 'I think this is better', and after talking it over, they decided to incorporate that idea.

In the traditional animation process, animators will begin by drawing sequences of animation on sheets of paper perforated to fit the peg bars in their desks, often using colored pencils, one picture or "frame" at a time.
The work of the assistant animators is reviewed, pencil-tested, and corrected until the lead animator is ready to meet with the director and have his scene sweatboxed, or reviewed by the director, producer, and other key creative team members.
Digital ink and paint has been in use at Walt Disney Feature Animation since 1989, where it was used for the final shots in The Little Mermaid.

 BBC News FILM Japanese animation at 'dead end'
Japanese film director Hayao Miyazaki, whose animated feature Spirited Away has won the Golden Bear at the Berlin film festival, has said that Japanese animation "is facing a dead end".
The director even cast doubt on the value of his own films, saying that his work - and animated films in general - could be robbing Japanese children of the time to experience life.
Despite this success, Mr Miyazaki's comments about the Japanese animation industry were pessimistic.

Besides the show itself, one of my favorite things on this dvd was the extras, which includes an interview with the director, and the English voice for Kuromi, Lisa Ortize, director’s commentary, alternate angle storyboards, and a brief look at the animation process.
Animation Runner Kuromi,” is only forty minutes long, but it’s a very fun forty minute story that educates fans on how anime is made.
Kuromi is a fun, and spunky character that adds a lot of energy to the story, while Mamako is more of a laid back character (actually she’s the only one).

Director John Lasseter is a pioneer of the computer animation industry, co-director of Disney's new CG film, A Bug's Life, and VP of Pixar Animation Studios.
