Topic: AnimeSuki

AnimeSuki - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Animesuki is not a tracker, instead, it provides links to many trackers across the web and is perhaps one of the most comprehensive sources of unlicensed anime torrent links.
AnimeSuki is also known for erring on the side of caution regarding licenses.
Also, AnimeSuki still does not list episodes from the S or SuperS seasons of Sailor Moon, even though all five seasons of the anime are unlicensed in the United States.

 Megatokyo Forums -> Pulling Fansubs
By limiting the content to only unlicensed anime, we had tried to avoid associating AnimeSuki with piracy, even though as stated on the Licensed Anime page, fansubs are technically a violation of copyright.
AnimeSuki will continue to list fansubs of anime series for which MFI does not hold the copyright, unless told to do otherwise.
According to what was said, all animesuki is doing is pulling the links to the titles, im not sure if the actual fansub groups themselves have also recieved emails/letters ordering them to stop.

 Fansub BitTorrent site gets cease-and-desist
From a spectator's point of view I wish Animesuki had made a stand and we could have seen which way the court would go, or whether MFI would have been willing to even risk it in court in the first place; but of course I can't blame Animesuki for doing as they did.
Secondly, sites like Animesuki claim to to take down a torrent if it is licensed in the US, but let's not kid ourselves, America is usually launched after other territories like Asia (this is purely for physical reasons because asian dubs can be produced extremely quickly and censorship laws aren't very strict).
That means, while Animesuki has its torrents up, we, the anime companies, are losing a great deal of money as it takes a good one to two years before a US launch happens.

 Animesuki Information @ Anime Cubed
Animesuki is a great place to start if you know exactly what series you want to download, but it's excellent if you just want to browse for something new.
Animesuki lists their information by most recent releases, fansub groups, series, mirrors, and is searchable in case you missed an episode.
Animesuki makes a point of keeping a Licensed Anime database and an explanation of licensed anime available through their main page.

N-Philes :: Forums - the beginning of the end
AnimeSuki is a website that aims to be a portal for finding all unlicensed English anime torrents.
Needless to say, AnimeSuki has never offered direct downloads of any anime series, nor (with very few exceptions) had anything to do with facilitating the downloading of any of the anime series listed on the site.
However, the legal notice was addressed at me (GHDpro, creator and webmaster of AnimeSuki) personally and I do not wish to get involved in any kind of legal trouble.

Removal of Media Factory Inc. Works - AnimeSuki Forum
While it's likely it's a bluff, it's obvious they mind that animesuki lists their series.
Thus as an extention of animesuki's policy to not list licensed anime, the series in question must be taken down.
RahXephon(ADV licensed) although it wasn't offered on Animesuki because it was licensed, just the OVA which was never made available in the US.

The one thing I'm curious about though is you said the first one should have been a match with animesuki.

I recommend that all users of the AnimeSuki RSS feed should make a post about it on those forums.

Animesuki target of legal action by Japanese anime studio - Anime Online   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-08)
Animesuki target of legal action by Japanese anime studio.
I honestly thought if every anime torrent site would be targeted, animesuki would be the onlyone standing tall since, in my opinion, its the most harmless of them all.
AnimeSuki themselves have stated that fansubs violate copyright laws here.

broadband help » Forums » » Re: "typical customer in an entire year"
Technically as of right now it is legal, because Japanese copyright laws do not transfer over to the United States unless they file for an international copyright (which most don't).
One of the main reason why animesuki hasn't been involved with heavy handed legal action such as lawsuits is because the positive effect of fansubbing means that the Japanese companies are willing to turn a blind eye in most cases.
Animesuki in and of itself is a grey area, as any torrent site arguably is, but if the **AA lawsuits set any precedents, it very well could be considered illegal.

Gen Kanai weblog: Media Factory Inc. vs. Animesuki.com
By not listing licensed anime, AnimeSuki avoided getting into any legal trouble with US anime companies, simply because we don't list anything they hold the copyright of.
On December 7, 2004 AnimeSuki received an email from a Tokyo law firm who represents the interests of Media Factory Inc. (a Japanese anime studio) requesting us to stop uploading "works" (anime series) of MFI to our website and/or stop "inducing" our visitors to websites where their "works" can be downloaded.
Hmm thats funny, The Japanese Production company attacked Animesuki on the same day the Japanese Army attacked PEARL HARBOR.

The AnimeSuki XML page offers much more information than the RSS page, but is intended more for webmasters who want to syndicate part of AnimeSuki on their site.
You could use the XML page to show the latest torrents from AnimeSuki on your site's news page, or you could use it to syndicate a complete copy of a series page from AnimeSuki (as was done in the past for Naruto by some sites).
The id number is in the URL of the page on AnimeSuki, for example the Kokoro Library series page has id 167.

Media Factory (jp) asked Animesuki to take down fansubs [Archive] - HongFire Anime Network
I read at animesuki that mediafactory had a lawyer send email (and certified international letter i think?) on Dec. 7 to animesuki telling them to remove all of their works, albeit them only being licensed for distribution in Japan only for the time being:
As for Animesuki, I don't think they're the ones in deepest trouble, it's the original distros who are going to get the most headaches out of these.
I've worked in a group before and slaved my PC as an IRC xdcc/f-serve bot in the channel that I was in, it's not fun to deal with idiots who whine and pine about wanting the next episode to be released sooner.

 BitTorrent @ AnimeSuki.com
In the early days of AnimeSuki (especially during Spring/Summer 2003), it was sometimes hard to keep the site up and running.
For this reason the scripts were adapted so that AnimeSuki could be mirrored on several locations.
While these days the main site has very little down time, there are still reasons to use a mirror site instead of the main site.

Honestly, if 4MB is too much, then you can dl a lot of the single episodes from animesuki and either a) not set them to download here to make it faster, or b) use those to upload to this torrent to speed things up for you.
The smaller the hash pieces, the longer it takes to make the torrent, churning the hard drive the entire time.
Although you can no longer get Tokyo Mew Mew from AnimeSuki, the Honobono site currently has 25 of the episodes.

Most of you may not have noticed much of this because they only lasted a few hours at most and were blocked by a firewall on the server and by my server provider.
Unfortunately, my server provider was apparently fed up with those attacks and pulled the plug of the AnimeSuki server.
My rough initial estimate is if AnimeSuki survives this and is revived, it'll take a week at least (possibly more).
