Mary Anissa Jones was born in 1958, and shot to stardom at the age of 8, when she was cast as the character Buffy in TV sitcom Family Affair.
Anissa and her mother had never got along, and eventually her father (her parents were divorced) got custody of Anissa and her brother, but his death soon after, sent them both packing back to their mother.

The highly successful series ran on CBS from 1966-1971 and was a ratings blockbuster at the time, placing in the top five of all shows in its three-year run.

A few years ago I was watching E! True Hollywood Story/Family Affair: The Anissa Jones Story and was stunned to find out that E! got her story wrong.
I had had a crush on Anissa when I was a kid, and though I was over it by the time I was twelve, she has always remained very special to me. I knew enough, and have learned enough additional information, to know that the show was intentionally misleading and at least 50% wrong.
I seem to be the only person who cares enough to right this wrong, but I think the truth has its own value; and though it seems that I might be a Don Quixote, any honorable person deserves to have their honor defended.

Anissa Jones would likely have had similar success beyond the series had she not sadly died so young.
Cissy was played by Kathy Garver who was a charming and attractive teen which is just what the part called for (And she went on to play the voice of Firestar on Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends which is pretty geeky cool!).
