Anita's greatest accomplishment so far in alpine ski racing was her success in the '93 Overall World Cup standings.
Wachter is truly tiny for a racer, only 50 kg, so she needs steep, icy runs to perform her best.

Meissnitzer overtook teammate Anita Wachter on the second run of the women's giant slalom Thursday to claim her second gold medal in the World Alpine Ski Championships.
Wachter was slightly faster than Meissnitzer through the first intermediate clocking but lost time in the middle of the course, and her 1:07.41 left her at 2:09.13.
The 31-year-old Wachter, who contemplated retirement after suffering a severe knee injury last season, is a two-time winner in giant slalom this season on the World Cup circuit.

She skied smoothly on the difficult top section where visibility was poor because of a thick fog that rolled in during the evening, but then made an inside ski mistake after going through a gate about midway down the illuminated course.

American Lindsey Kildow dropped to second after Gerg overtook her, finishing in 1:15.32.

Three American racers qualified for the second run, but just one finished.
Kristina Koznick (Burnsville, MN) tied for 12th with Austrian Anita Wachter as both posted times of 1:32.60.
Caroline Lalive (Steamboat Springs, CO), who was the top American in 10th after the opening run, did not finish her second run as she hooked a ski tip on one of the last few gates of the course.
