The Chicago Park District sent ten instructors to one of Freeberg's clinics.
Included in that group was Ann McGlone (now Justice Ann McGlone Burke of the Illinois Appellate Court) who later proposed the organizing of the 1968 track meet modeled after the Olympics.
From there, the City of Chicago, the Chicago Park District, and the Kennedy Foundation partnered and welcomed 1,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from 26 states and Canada.
