Strathclyde Law School graduate Ann McKechin MP (LLB 1981, DipLP 1982) was elected as Member of Parliament for Glasgow Maryhill in the 2001 general election with over 60% of the vote.
After completing her LLB at Strathclyde Ann practiced as a solicitor for some 18 years, spending 14 of those in the firm Pacitti Jones.
