AnnReinking (born November 10, 1949 in Seattle, Washington) is an American actor and dancer who made her mark on Broadway, creating the role of "Maggie" in the Sherman Brothers musical, Over Here!
She appeared in the Broadway cast of Pippin and A Chorus Line and made her movie debut in 1979 in All That Jazz in the role loosely based on herself and her relationship with Bob Fosse.
In the documentary, Reinking is featured as one of the enthusiastic judges of the annual New York City public school dance competition for inner city youth.
AnnReinking is a multi-talented actress, singer, and dancer, as well as a Tony-award winning choreographer.
Reinking went on to Broadway, films, and television, earning numerous accolades for her work including Tony nominations for her leading performance in Dancin’ and as best actress in Goodtime Charley with Joel Grey.
Ann divides her time between family in New York and Tampa, where she is Artistic Director of the Broadway Theatre Project, a program that brings together working professionals with gifted young people.
After working with Michael Bennett in "Coco" (1969), Reinking first worked with Bob Fosse, who would be her mentor and off-stage paramour, as a chorus performer in "Pippin" (1972).
Reinking staged and starred as Roxie Hart in the revival of "Chicago," with James Naughton as Billy Flynn.
The casting of the twentysomething Reinking to replace the fiftysomething Verdon was considered insulting by some, while others thought Reinking too young and inexperienced for the role.
Reinking got her break dancing in hit Bob Fosse musicals of the 1970s, moving from the chorus in Pippin to the lead in Chicago (where she replaced Fosse's wife Gwen Verdon).
Later she became a choreographer and is often cited as the leading acolyte of Fosse's style and techniques.

A Broadway musical star and later choreographer, AnnReinking reached a pinnacle in her career in June 1997 when she won the Tony Award for choreographing the revival of "Chicago".
In 1977, Reinking once again was tapped as a replacement, this time for veteran star (and Fosse's wife) Gwen Verdon as Roxie Hart in "Chicago".
Her subsequent stage work was sporadic, distinguished by her own Off-Broadway show, "Ann Reinking...Music Loves Me" in 1984 and the lead in the Fosse-directed revival of "Sweet Charity" in 1986-87.
Renowned more for her dancing than acting, Reinking has danced in many Broadway shows.
Reinking was charming as Grace Farrell, the sympathetic and devoted secretary to grouchy Daddy Warbucks (Albert Finney) in John Houston's Annie (1982), in which she sang the songs "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here", "We Got Annie"; and "Let's Go To The Movies".

For two years Weir has been awarded a Fellowship by the Australian Council, towards development to become an artistic director of a contemporary dance company, as well as in recognition of her choreographic achievements so far.
Many people still remembered the original production and didn't think Chicago merited a spot in the series.
Even so, the production went forward under the direction by Walter Bobbie with choreography "in the style of Bob Fosse" by AnnReinking, who also starred as Roxie Hart.
Society had changed in light of events like the OJ Simpson trial, and audiences were more receptive to the criminal-as-celebrity theme of the show.
