Wedgeworth joined the seasoned cast of "Three's Company" (1977) in 1979 as bosomy neighbor/divorcée Lana Shields who had strict and assertive designs on 'John Ritter's Jack Tripper character.
After shooting a couple of episodes of the show, Wedgeworth said, some of the cast members were complaining about the size of her part and the character dwindled down to practically "nothing".
Wedgeworth asked the producers to write the part of Lana back to the way it was intended or release her.

Nearly stealing the show from the young 'uns are a formidable trio of screen vets: Ann Wedgeworth and Peter Fonda as Starlene's beyond spaced out parents trying to maintain a rose colored 1960s mentality in an unemotional '90s world.
Fonda is a riot in a wicked send-up of his Easy Rider persona as a voice-impaired hippy who lost his larynx via an LSD experiment involving the government (don't ask, watch).

Ann Wedgeworth gave the best performance in the movie as Patsy's mother.
Jessica Lang looks no more like Patsy Cline than I do, and her lip-scynchs to Cline's work is rather hit-and-miss, but she gives a truly memorable performance; Ed Harris equals her in the role of husband Charlie, and together they create a synergy that has tremendous power.
The supporting cast is also quite good, with Ann Wedgeworth a standout in the role of Cline's mother Hilda.

The first half of the film plays out as a light romantic comedy, and there are some very funny scenes as Price aggressively pursues Howard, much to the chagrin of her friends, and as Howard tries to woo her in return, though he has no idea how to go about it.
It soon becomes apparent, however, that Howard has some serious problems, most of them tied to an unhealthy attachment to his mother (Ann Wedgeworth).
She is seriously ill and has no compunctions about manipulating her son to get his full attention.
