In 1843, Anna Atkins used photograms to create a botanical reference titled British Algea: Cyanotype Impressions, which used sunlight, glass, and the cyanotype process to record the shapes of British marine flora.
This is recognized as the first photographically illustrated book, and Anna is credited as the first female photographer.

Harry Golden Exhibit, UNC Charlotte Library: a permanent exhibit of memorabilia is on display in the Dalton Rare Book and Manuscript Room (10th floor, Dalton Tower).
The collection's emphasis is on Golden as editor and publisher of the Charlotte based Carolina Israelite (1942 68), a bi monthly newspaper that liberally addressed political issues, Jewish and minority concerns, and the daily lives of the common individual from the perspective of an American Jew.

Dame Anna Neagle was a theatrical and cinematic institution in England, and one of the most popular screen actresses of the mid-20th century.
She also proved her stagecraft in 1934, when she took on the roles of Rosalind in As You Like It and Olivia in Twelfth Night; working under director Robert Atkins, she earned critical accolades in both productions, despite the fact that she had never before done any Shakespeare.
Replacing Celia Johnson in The Dame of Sark, she was again on-stage in 1975, and the year after her husband's death in 1977, she was acting in Most Gracious Lady, which was written for the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
