Anne's brother James Stamford Caldwell had succeeded to the Caldwell family estate of Linley Wood in 1838 on the death of their father James Caldwell.
Anne had continued to write books well into her old age, and it would appear that her last book was "Chronicles of Dartmoor" which was published in 1866 when she was 75 years old.

Anne Caldwell, daughter of James Caldwell, Recorder of Newcastle-under-Lynn and Deputy-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, was born in Staffordshire in 1796.
Her first novel, "Two Old Men's Tales" (1834), was published anonymously, as were all of her books, and by 1865 she had produced some twenty-seven.
She was married to Arthur Cuthbert Marsh (died in 1849), but after her brother's death in 1858 she became the head of the Caldwell family and had her name changed to Marsh-Caldwell.
