  Anne Grant, The Author
Anne Underwood Grant was born in Savannah, Georgia to a "Yankee" mother and a most genteel southern father, thirteen years her mother’s senior.
Wary of her chances to earn a living as a playwright, Anne went to work for the North Carolina Arts Council during its early, heady years when local arts councils, galleries and theatres were opening all over the state.
In 1993, with both of her children away at prep schools, Anne made the decision to close the agency and seek a more secluded lifestyle in order to write her novels.

 Corvey CW3 | Contribution Page
Anne Macvicar Grant (1755-1838), letter writer, essayist, and poet, spent the first half of her life in what many of her contemporaries would have considered exotically primitive surroundings, and she built her literary career on her memories of those places.
Anne Grant died at eighty-three on 7 November, 1838 and was buried in St. Cuthbert's Cemetery in Edinburgh.
Grant and Fletcher were warm friends, but the two women's comments on each other in their autobiographical writing suggest the extent to which, even among women, the highly politicized world of early nineteenth-century literary Edinburgh required careful negotiation of political differences within private friendships.

 Anne Grant
Grant removed in 1810 from Stirling, where she had resided since her husband's death, to Edinburgh, which continued to be her home for twenty-eight years.
Grant's literary labors were no longer necessary for her support, as she was in receipt of a pension of £100 from the British government, in consideration of her literary talents, which, with the profits of her writ-lugs, the emolument from her pupils, and several legacies from friends, rendered her life free from pecumary cares.
Grant died in 1870, leaving a widow and four children, two of whom are sons, in the service of the British government.

Grant of Laggan, as she was more commonly known at the time, is now probably the least familiar of the trio, although contemporaries would have seen nothing odd about grouping her with Scott and Baillie as one of the pre-eminent Scottish poets of her day.
Grant read and discussed with Mary Macintosh manuscript poems by at least one other aspiring woman writer, a Miss J.C., who is almost certainly the young lady to whom Grant addressed one of the poems that she later published.
Grant, who was well-read in, if frequently disapproving of, the work of contemporary women poets, would almost certainly have read Barbauld's poem and no doubt gave hers the title she did to emphasize the ways in which she is offering a rejoinder to Barbauld's gloomy vision of the inevitable collapse of the British empire.

Grant's atlas is aimed more at the beginning surgeon (there are much more detailed works on specific surgical anatomy) and the gross anatomy prosector, such as a first year medical student.
Grant's Atlas may supplement it to some degree if you are looking for a second presentation for variety, but Netter's is without question unequaled.
Grant's atlas is poorly organized, not as well drawn, not as detailed, and actually leaves out certain parts of the human anatomy (unless the lack of organization was the culprit in my inability to find certain things).
