  Interview | Anne Perry
In Anne Perry's case, acquiring an education haphazardly is a rather delicate euphemism for incarceration.
Perry was well on her way to becoming an internationally known mystery writer when her secret came out: as a teenager in New Zealand, Perry and her best friend were tried and convicted for killing the other girl's mother.
Perry is committed to publishing two books per year: a "Pitt novel in the spring, and a Monk novel in the fall." And while a pace like that might leave other writers breathless, Perry feels she works consistently but not at breakneck speed.

Anne Perry (born October 28, 1938), born Juliet Hulme in England, is a British historical novelist and convicted murderer (see also Parker-Hulme Murder).
The daughter of Dr. Henry Hulme, a physicist, Perry was diagnosed with tuberculosis and was sent by her family to the Caribbean and South Africa in search of healthier climates.
In March 2006, Perry said that while her relationship with Pauline Parker was obsessive, they were not lesbians, as (arguably) portrayed in the film Heavenly Creatures.

In 1994, a newspaper in New Zealand revealed that Perry was one of two 15-year-old murderers portrayed in the movie "Heavenly Creatures." The film rekindled interest in the 1954 murder of Honora Parker by her daughter, Pauline, and her daughter's best friend, Anne.

Mystery writer Anne Perry is in a class by herself.
While Perry is most noted for her Victorian-era mysteries and memorable characters such as Thomas and Charlotte Pitt, and William Monk and Hester Latterly, NO GRAVES AS YET introduces Joseph Reavley, named after Perry's maternal grandfather, who was a captain during World War I for England and served as a chaplain in the trenches.
Perry immerses the reader into all the lushness of the English countryside before the start of World War I. And she keeps the story chugging along with numerous plot twists and a slew of memorable characters that surely will appear in her sequel novel.

Soon after Anne Perry became a commercially-successful author, she was invited to provide biographical information for "Contemporary Authors," the authoritative compilation.
In many ways this must have been, for Ms Perry, the equivalent of her father's admittance into "Who's Who." Her entry is an honest, reasonably frank and even brave one, with understandable omissions, some clever smokescreens, no falsehoods and an interesting interview.
Of course, it was impossible for Anne Perry to mention her father, Henry Hulme, or her brother, Jonathon, in her official biographical data and still retain her anonymity.
