The Very Best Books : Anne of Ingleside
Anne is the mother of five, with never a dull moment in her lively home.
Montgomery had originally ended her series in 1920 with "Rilla of Ingleside." In 1936 she wrote "Anne of Windy Poplars," which became the fourth book and fit in between "Anne of the Island" and "Anne's House of Dreams," covering the three years the red-headed orphan spent teaching while waiting for Gilbert to finish medical school.
Of course, Anne can't be the same 13-year-old girl we first met, but I'm still rooting for her all the way.

Anne of Green Gables - Wild Cherry Blossoms: The Green Gables Project
Anne of Green Gables's debut in 1908 was met with instant popularity, and Anne's author, L. Montgomery, produced the sequel Anne of Avonlea within a year.
Montgomery continued to receive requests throughout her life for "more" about Anne Shirley, consequently she created a total of eight novels in the Anne series plus three volumes of related short stories from 1908 until her death in 1942.
Throughout the years, Montgomery grew tired of her red-haired heroine: she complained she was being "dragged at Anne's chariot wheels," for in order to financially support herself and please her fans she had to write more about Anne although she did not want to.

I'm sure LMM would have been pleased with Anne 1 and 2 if she liked the 1934 Anne of Green Gables but I don't think she would have liked the idea of taking her books and its characters into a completely different direction like what was done with Anne3.
The plot of Anne 3 wasn't based on any of the books, and L.M. Montgomery was speaking of adaptations of her written works.
I think "Anne's House of Dreams" would make a great movie, though "Anne of Ingleside" would require some clever adapted screenplay (I do see great potential in the first part and the end part of that book, though), which would certainly be even more difficult than writing a story from scratch.

In addition to great popular acclaim, Montgomery also received a number of international honors for her writing, being made a Fellow of the British Royal Society of Arts in 1923, and a Companion of the Order of the British Empire and a member of the Literary and Artistic Institute of France, in 1935.
