| | USC Annenberg School Center for the Digital Future (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-18) |
 | | The purpose of the April 2005 retreat was to help the Annenberg School frame a major new initiative looking at the ways in which on-line communities are changing the fabric of our social, political and economic lives, and to plan the research, courses, events and outreach of this program. |
 | | Sessions looked in detail at existing communities (Friendster, craigslist, for example) and, through discussion with their leaders and organizers, helped participants gain an understanding of the unique role of the on-line world. |
 | | The Center is committed to working closely with members of all policy communities ranging from government, industry, academia, journalists, parents and concerned national and international citizens to ensure that good policy comes from a rational and reasoned set of assumptions based on meaningful research. |
