She was born in Gorebridge, Midlothian, Scotland, to Presbyterian parents who disapproved of her becoming an actress.
Crosbie's next major role was as Margaret, long-suffering wife of Victor Meldrew, in the British sitcom, One Foot in the Grave (1990).
