Annette made her appearance with the band on the album 'The Big Jinx' before leaving in favor of Charlotte Caffey's post-Go-Go's band Astrid's Mother.

She was concentraiting on getting her solo career going at the same time she was doing the bass thing for Charlotte and both women were concerned about what impact that would have on the band.
After some rehersals, Char and Annette came to the decision that it would be best if they found another bassist that could perform with the band full time.

She began her professional career as Micki Steele in the teen-girl band, The Runaways.
A guitarist/bassist with a haunting contralto voice, she replaced Annette Zilinskas, in The Bangles in 1983.
Her inclusion as an efficient and highly regarded bass player, and her bluestocking image, is thought to have added substance and credibility to what would have been just another band of rock-chicks, and was instrumental in The Bangles' subsequent success.

I haven't checked email in a month, so there -- I'm pretty certain that the spelling is "Zilinskas." Right after she quit the Bangles she was in the LA cowpunk band Blood on the Saddle, whose first LP is quite good, although largely forgotten today.

The group still has a punky energy, but it frequently sounds more like one of the better guitar pop bands of the mid-'60s--the Five Americans or The Bobby Fuller Four, say--rather than like a bunch of punks who stumbled into a country roadhouse (which is what it sounded like on its first album).
Annette Zilinskas, the band's best vocalist, is given more microphone time, and Greg Davis almost seems to have learned to sing harmony.
The rough edges aren't all smoothed away, of course, and they still sound as though they might break into a double-time version of "Ghost Riders In The Sky" any minute, but that's their charm.

One of the band's three lead singers, ex-Bangle Annette Zilinskas, vocalizes on the best songs, including "Do You Want to Dance?" and "(I Wish I Was a) Single Girl (Again)," where she sounds like a real down-home country singer trying to stay straight while her band, out of control, beats her to the finish.
With one acoustic rest period, the band's blood runs hotter on the third album, an uneven race with the devil that uses flat-out tempos on hard-rocking originals related to country music more by structural inspiration than content.
