The annual Banjorama in Springfield, Ohio, USA was great and very nice banjo show, with lot of friends and with great hospitality shown by Patty and Dr. Phil Cain.

 Big D Jamboree
The Big D Jamboree brought some of the greatest stars of country music to Dallas during its heyday, beginning in the late '40s in the first Sportatorium and running through the early '60s at the second arena, rebuilt at Industrial Boulevard and Cadiz Street after a 1953 fire.
Broadcasting from co-producer Ed McLemore's Sportatorium wrestling arena, the Jamboree served as a springboard to national status for regional stars, as a venue for aspiring local performers, and as a valuable showcase for both regional and national touring acts.
The Big D Jamboree's debut came in the middle of the annual Texas State Fair celebrations in Dallas, and the show was an immediate hit.

Wayne’s banjo classes at Central Piedmont Community College were suddenly filled and overflowing with people wanting to find their own roots and learn to play the banjo.
Gary is a dedicated banjo teacher, 15-year Dollywood entertainer, studio ace and most recently band leader for Dolly Parton on her bluegrass album tour.

The settlers from Scotland, England and Ireland combined the ballads and instruments of their tradition with the music and instruments of the slaves (the American "banjo" was originally the African "mbanza") to produce this country's first "fusion" music.
The Jamboree is heralded as one of the finest events of its kind in the Northeast and attracts musicians and fans of traditional American music from all over the area.
The Jamboree is held at the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture Meeting House, 53 Prospect Park West at 2nd Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

I got my banjo lessons from two guys, one a 14 year old who tried to show me the fast part of “dueling banjos”.

The Jamboree aims to provide an environment similar to the Yarra Junction Fiddler's Convention, however with the emphasis on this occasion being that much maligned family of instruments - the banjo.

I was asked to be a part of a summer studies program that involved week-long classes and they decided they wanted a banjo class and asked me, which led to me hosting my own in Colorado, which I’ve been doing since 1984.
Several of them had their own guitars and banjos, and I happened to have a banjo in the house.
Peter Wernick and Tony Trischka have been in the forefront of banjo playing and also banjo instruction for some time now and are both known for their serious approaches to the instrument.

Jimmy Martin was one of the biggest draws and the highest paid entertainer as a regular member of the Louisiana Hayride and again at the WWVA Wheeling Jamboree, which he joined in 1960.

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - The Sixth Annual WQSU-FM Bluegrass Concert will be held Sunday, April 13, in Susquehanna University's Weber Chapel Auditorium.

I think there is some banjo work in the song "Freedom" and possibly in "Why Am I Me" and maybe "Over The Hill".

I also have a BA in Music and studied with folk legend Hedy West in college who taught me a lot of her banjo style which is rather unusual.
I have an unusual banjo as well, an old Paramount that was made for the Bruno company as a tenor back in 1916, but now has a 5 string neck on it.
