Born Ondrakova, as a child, Anny Ondra lived in (The capital and largest city of the Czech Republic in the western part of the countryi; a cultural and commercial center since the 14th century) Prague.
She starred in Czech, Austrian and German comedies in the 1920s, but can also be seen in some British dramas, most notably in (English film director noted for his skill in creating suspense (1899-1980)) Alfred Hitchcock's The Manxman and Blackmail (both 1929).
Her first husband was director Carl Lamac, her second - (additional info and facts about Max Schmeling) Max Schmeling.

While the film was in production, the studio decided to make it one of Britain's first sound pictures.
Anny Ondra, whose Czech accent was very strong, had her voice dubbed by Joan Barry, who stood just offscreen as she mouthed her lines.
Many portions of the film are still in it's original silent format.
