Study of the Anomalous Acceleration of Pioneer 10 and 11
This paper shows that the anomalous acceleration of the spacecraft Pioneer 10 and 11 in the direction of the Sun is due to the presence of dust in the Kuiper belt, which has been ignored in the calculation.
“anomalous acceleration”, which is an extremely slight change of velocity of the spacecraft, is due to the drag produced by matter belonging to the Kuiper belt.
The fact that this anomalous acceleration is observed only on bodies having low masses, as on Pioneer 10 and 11, but is missing in massive bodies as Neptune and Pluto shows that its origin is not gravitational.

Mind and Anomalous Monism [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]
Anomalous Monism is a type of property dualism in the philosophy of mind.
For the anomalous monist, the plausibility of property dualism derives from the fact that although mental states, events and processes have genuine causal powers, the causal relationships that they enter into with physical entities cannot be explained by appeal to fundamental laws of nature.
Anomalous Monism (AM) is a philosophical thesis about the place of the mind and of mental states in the natural order.

Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR) is a rare congenital malformation in which all four pulmonary veins do not connect normally to the left atrium, but instead drain abnormally to the right atrium by way of an abnormal (anomalous) connection.
Because this blood is a mixture of oxygenated and unoxygenated blood, the overall content in the blood ejected by the left ventricle to the aorta is decreased.
The diagnosis of Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return may be initially suspected when a physician hears a typical heart murmur and detects evidence of right ventricular overload.

 Anomalous Monism
Anomalous Monism is a theory of the relationship between mental and physical events and properties developed by Donald Davidson.
Many critics of anomalous monism have claimed that it is difficult to see how the position avoids epiphenomenalism – the view that mental events are causally impotent – and that anomalous monism is therefore unacceptable as an account of the place of the mental in the physical world.
Anomalous Monism is clearly deeply committed, at a number of levels, to the causal efficacy and relevance of the mental, and so charity suggests that we try to understood it in a way such that these commitments are respected.

Anomalous phenomenon - Open Encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
Anomalous phenomena are phenomena which are observed and for which there are no suitable explanations in the context of a specific body of scientific knowledge, e.g.
These concepts are not widely accepted as real by mainstream scientists, some of whom go as far as calling the study of them pseudoscience.
Other anomalous phenomena verge into the fringes of what is known as pathological science, such as cold fusion; while there are some serious, competent scientists researching the phenomenon, there are also many less competent, biased cranks, and even cultists.

 Anomalous Colour Vision
Anomalous colour vision is usually a genetically determined normal state, predominantly in men since it is carried in the Y chromosome
This, besides being unfair, shows that the commonest varieties of colour blindness are congenital, due to genetic differences in the sex-determining Y chromosome (where some genes are not duplicated), and that colour blindness is a recessive characteristic, like haemophilia.
Anomalous trichromatism is the most common form of colour blindness, in which colour distinctions are merely less accurately or easily made than in normal colour vision, and three stimuli are still usually necessary to produce a match.

Anomalous experiences imply that the "experient" (the person having the experience), experiences it as of paranormal, psychic or bizarre kind such that it cannot easily be explained using our conventional laws of science.
ESP or extrasensory perception is the most well known term for one kind of anomalous experience.
Many years ago he suggested neutral terminology such as the word "delta" for the whole area of anomalous experience and ESP would be "afferent delta" and psychokinesis (PK) would be encompassed under "efferent delta".

 The anomalous properties of water
Notable amongst the anomalies of water are the opposite properties of hot and cold water, with the anomalous behavior more accentuated at low temperatures where the properties of supercooled water often diverge from those of hexagonal ice.
Whether or not the properties of water are seen to be anomalous depends upon which materials water is to be compared and the interpretation of 'anomalous'.
Some scientists attribute the low temperature anomalous nature of water to the presence of a second critical point; an interesting if somewhat unproductive hypothesis (as the attribution mixes cause with effect).

Anomalous Left Coronary Artery - What is it?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
In this very rare defect, affecting boys and girls equally, the left coronary artery, which supplies oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle, is "anomalous," or abnormal, in form.
In the normal heart, the left coronary artery arises from the aorta, the large vessel that carries oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the body.
Anomalous Left Coronary Artery is a form of congenital heart disease, in which the coronary enters the pulmonary artery, rather than the aorta, thus making it anomalous.

WEIRD SCIENCE: Faile effect, anomalous transparancy
However, because other individuals, with only a minimum of technique description have been able to confirm the effect, and because a number of "real world" factors such as lighting, location, and certain material structures can greatly affect it's magnitude, it seems to more properly belong in the realm of optics, and may invoke quantum principles.
Qualities of the Faile Effect: The observation of anomalous transparency seems to be possible in a very wide range of environments.
If one were to evaluate the appearance of the typical viewed anomalous transparency in comparison to a known arrangement of filters or optical attenuators, one would say that it is a neutral density effect, and resembles an optical transmission of perhaps 2 to 3% at most.

 Anomalous water
One of the difficulties in putting forward novel ideas for the structure of water is that the scientific press has been mistaken before and prefers to shuffle forward in the almost known rather than take big steps into the less well known.
Recognition that the properties of anomalous water were due to impurities was not before it had generated a considerable theoretical literature, both for and, less embarrassingly particularly early on, against.
There was a positive outcome to this work in that it did stimulate much work on water but it seems to be usually remembered with discomfiture.

EMERALD: Event Monitoring Enabling Responses to Anomalous Live Disturbances
Mechanisms are needed to provide real-time detection of patterns in network operations that may indicate anomalous or malicious activity, and to respond to this activity through automated countermeasures.
The underlying mathematics are the same for each instance, and all required information specific to the entity being monitored (be it a network resource or other EMERALD monitors producing analysis results at lower layers in the analysis hierarchy) is entirely encapsulated in the objects of the profile class.
This tiered collection and correlation of analysis results allows EMERALD monitors to represent and profile more global malicious or anomalous activity that is not visible from the local monitoring of individual network services and assets (see Section 4).

Background: Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) consists of an abnormality of blood flow in which all 4 pulmonary veins drain into systemic veins or the right atrium with or without pulmonary venous obstruction.
Pulmonary venous obstruction may occur in all types of anomalous connections, and in all cases, clinicians must identify any sites of obstruction and treat the obstruction whenever possible at the time of surgical repair.
In supracardiac connections, obstruction may occur at the origin of the ascending (vertical) vein or its attachment to the innominate vein, or the vertical vein may be obstructed as it crosses between the left pulmonary artery and the left bronchus.

 Anomalous Precessions
Incidentally, Icarus periodically crosses the Earth's path, and has actually passed within a million kilometers of us - less than 3 times the distance to the Moon.  It's about 1 mile in diameter, and may eventually collide with the Earth - reason enough to keep an eye on its precession.
One hope that Einstein had throughout the time he was working on the general theory was that it would explain the anomalous precession of Mercury.  Of course, as we've seen, "explanations" of this phenomenon were never in short supply, but none of them were very compelling, all seeming to be ad hoc.
In contrast, Einstein found that the extra precession arises unavoidably from the fundamental principles of general relativity.
