Earth Day was founded in the United States in 1970 during a turbulent era of social protest.
The date Earth Day is observed, April 22, was chosen for practical reasons - it did not conflict with students' finals nor their Spring Break, and the weather would generally be pleasant for outdoor activities in most of North America.
Earth Day Energy Fast was originally called Energy Fast until its founder discovered that Earth Day is in the public domain, there for all to use, and the name Earth Day is not subject to any proprietary claims.

Earth Day Energy Fast now exists as a living historical document that an attempt was made from the grassroots to use Earth Day as the mechanism to create behavioral change which could possibly slow and reverse global warming.

Begun as a grassroots campaign in 1991, Earth Day Energy Fast sought to shift the focus from entertainment to action, asking people to cut back or go without man-made energy each Earth Day to begin the process of changing energy-wasting behavior and to effect policy changes favoring efficiency and renewables.

"Another Day on Earth" hits the ground running with the rhythmic "This," a majestic pop piece that is the album's most accessible track.
Lyrically, "Another Day on Earth" is all one would expect from Eno; a fine mix of an amusing and academic mangling of the English language and emotionally distant potency.
Taken metaphorically, the lyrics to the title track, "Just Another Day," - One day we will put it all behind / We'll say that was just another time / We'll say that was just another day on Earth" - are therapeutic reminders of how small we are in the face of history.

Whilst Eno’s warm textured backgrounds remain on Another Day On Earth, even if occasionally over produced, this element plays second fiddle to the vocal contributions – and this is where I find Eno loses much of his resourcefulness.
