Album Reviews: Beach Boys Solo Albums Brian handles most of the backing vocals on the album, showing off his undiminished talent for arranging complex harmony, but sometimes the vocals are unnecessarily sloppy, and what may have been intended as loose and rollicking sounds careless. The album closes with the jarring, autobiographical "Happy Days" which although initially dark and off-putting, becomes more powerful with repeated listenings and ends the album with an air of hope, which is perhaps what Brian intended, and without doubt deserves.
